Roger B. Proffer, Sr.

Roger B. Proffer, Sr. was born in Rankin, Michigan in October of 1941 and raised up on a small farm. In 1960 he joined the Air Force and was schooled in electronics and worked as an aircraft radar-computer technician. His service time included 3 years overseas in the Far-East including a time in Viet-Nam.

After his military service Roger returned to Michigan and worked as an electronics technician. In 1974 Roger met Linda as she was working at her mother’s restaurant. Soon after they were married, Roger received an extremely poor health diagnosis, sold his business to serve as a Baptist missionary to Mexico.

Roger and Linda moved to Crystal River, Florida and started Military Outlet, Inc. which Linda and Roger still operate today. Linda was one of the founding partners of Nature Coast Bank and she serves on the board of directors.

Since moving to Crystal River, Roger became continually active in his church and community, and has served on the Crystal River City Council 2002-06. He also served on political action committees including Heart of Florida, and the Suncoast League of Cities. Roger is also an Amateur Radio operator.

Roger was invited to the Rotary Club of Crystal River Kings Bay in April of 2002 and has served as Secretary and President. Roger has also faithfully served on the Rotary District 6950 board and was elected Governor for the year of 2013-2014.

During His time, he directed a Fire Engine projects for Mexico and Guatemala also several water projects in Honduras. Roger received of Meritorious Service from Rotary International in 2011.

In 2017 Roger received Rotary’s highest honor recognizes Rotarians who demonstrate Rotary’s motto, “Service Above Self”.

Roger was awarded his Master of Divinity in 2020 and Doctor of Theology in 2021 from the Revelation School of Ministry.
